![]() I made some small upgrades to the T410: changed out the H200 HBA/RAID Card for a proper H310 RAID Card w/ 512GB Cache and BBU. Anyway, I decided to do a total rethink of the situation, and while I was running a network line to my Server Closet (It's in the furnace closet, which is a pain in the ass - I tried Powerline Ethernet and performance was utter garbage (around 5Mbps), so I tried Wifi Bridge and it was inconsistent at best).Īnyway getting side tracked here - so while installing the Ethernet line (CableMate II cable runners across the ceiling - we rent *shrugs* can't knock holes in walls), I decided to swap back in the Dell T410. Well the overall performance of the system was just. So I went out and bought a couple of 1TB Seagate 2.5" HDD's and ran them in RAID1. The original drives were very small 15K RPM drives for an SQL Server (146GB probably) but those drives were shredded for privacy reasons. The other main annoyance was that the IBM was a 2.5" bay setup (16 bays, though the backplane for only 8 was installed). ![]() The T410 isn't exactly whisper quiet, but the IBM is like a jet engine all the time. However, there were just numerous issues and annoyances with the IBM server that drove me away from using it. The IBM had similar (slightly higher core count) specced dual CPU setup with more RAM, so it was the natural conclusion to swap them out. ![]() I originally had a Dell T410 that I had swapped for an IBM x3650 M4. I finally took some time over the last several weeks to get my server re-setup and the way I (mostly) want. ![]()
